How to Set Up/install the UserWay Accessibility Widget Using the WordPress Plugin

Install and enable the UserWay WordPress plugin, connect your UserWay account, and display the accessibility widget on your website.

Use the UserWay WordPress plugin to install and manage the UserWay accessibility widget on your WordPress website.

  1. Log in to your WordPress website as an administrator.

  2. Open Plugins > Add New, search for UserWay, then click Install Now and Activate.

  3. Click Go to Dashboard, or open UserWay from the left navigation menu.

  4. Enter your UserWay username/email address and sign in.

  5. Enter your password to complete the sign-in process.

  6. Scroll down, and Turn on Enable the Widget.

⚠️ Important: If your website uses a caching plugin, clear all website caches after turning on Enable Widget. Otherwise, the accessibility widget may not appear immediately.

Troubleshooting

The Widget Does Not Appear After Enabling It: If the widget does not appear after turning on Enable Widget:

  1. Clear all website caches, including any WordPress caching plugins, CDN caches, and server-level caches.

  2. Open a non-existent page on your website, for example: https://example.com/asdf.

  3. Check whether the accessibility widget appears on the 404 page.

ℹ️ Note: Most 404 pages are not cached. If the widget appears on the non-existent page but not on regular pages, caching is likely preventing the updated widget from displaying.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Open Plugins in WordPress.

  2. Fully uninstall the UserWay plugin.

  3. Reinstall the UserWay plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory.

  4. Sign in using the correct UserWay account.

⚠️ Important: Simply deactivating and reactivating the plugin will not resolve this issue. The previous installation information may remain stored in the WordPress database. A complete uninstall and reinstall is required.
