Account ID Mismatch Warning Displayed in the UserWay Dashboard

An Account ID Mismatch warning appears when the UserWay Dashboard detects that the widget code currently installed on the website is associated with a different UserWay account from the one you are currently accessing in the Dashboard.

In other words, the website is using a widget Account ID that does not match the Account ID of the UserWay account currently managing the site in your Dashboard.

Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • An Account ID Mismatch warning appears under My Sites in the UserWay Dashboard:

  • The website contains a widget code from a different account with the data-account as example 2, instead example

  • Widget customization settings are not syncing when changes are applied

  • Widget position always displays the default blue icon in the top-right corner, regardless of the configured position

Why This Happens

This typically occurs when:

  • A widget code from a different UserWay account was installed on the website.

  • An older widget installation was not fully removed before a new code was added.

  • Multiple widget codes exist on the website.

⚠️ Important: If you recently updated the widget code, it may take up to 24 hours for the Dashboard to detect the change and update the website status

Resolution

  1. Go to https://userway.org/code and enter the email address of the UserWay account that will manage the widget or has the active Pro subscription.

  2. Copy the widget code generated for that account.

  3. Review your website code and remove any existing UserWay code containing an incorrect data-account value.

  4. Install the newly generated code from Step 1, preferably within the <head> section of your website template.

  5. Save and publish your website changes.

  6. Allow the Dashboard up to 24 hours after the update to re-scan the website and validate the installation.

Confirm the Fix

After updating the code:

  1. Verify that the installed data-account value matches the Account ID associated with the UserWay account managing the website.

  2. Confirm whether changes made in the Dashboard are reflected in the widget.

  3. If a Pro subscription is active, verify that the Screen Reader and Acessibility Profiles feature is displayed in the widget menu:

💡 Tip: If you manage multiple UserWay accounts, always generate the widget code using the account that owns the active subscription and will be used to manage widget settings.

Websites Using Google Tag Manager (GTM)

⚠️ Important: If your website uses Google Tag Manager (GTM), use the Advanced Installation Code available at https://userway.org/code instead of the Basic Installation Code. Using the Advanced Code helps ensure the widget loads correctly and prevents installation conflicts that may cause Account ID mismatch warnings.
