Short answer: No. The UserWay Accessibility Widget does not use persistent cookies to store accessibility settings, and it generally does not rely on cookies for its functionality.
This article explains how the Widget stores user preferences and what that means for privacy and cookie compliance.
How accessibility settings are stored
When a visitor customizes their accessibility experience — for example, adjusting font size, contrast, navigation aids, or similar options — those preferences are saved locally in the visitor's own browser using browser storage (local storage and/or session storage). They are not stored in cookies.
This approach means:
✅ The visitor's settings persist between visits, so they don't have to reconfigure the Widget each time.
✅ Preferences remain available until the visitor clears their browser storage.
✅ The data stays on the user's device — it isn't tied to a tracking cookie.
What the Widget does not do
The Widget does not use these stored settings for:
❌ Tracking
❌ Analytics
❌ Profiling
❌ Marketing
They are used solely to maintain the accessibility experience each visitor has chosen.
A note on infrastructure cookies
You may notice standard session cookies coming from underlying hosting or CDN services. These are part of normal web infrastructure — they are not set or used by the Widget to store accessibility preferences, and they are not used to track users.
