Does the UserWay Widget Support Subdomains?

Learn how UserWay Widget subscriptions apply to domains, subdomains, and URL paths, and when a separate widget subscription is required.

Many websites use subdomains to separate different areas of their site, such as:

  • login.example.com

  • accounts.example.com

  • shop.example.com

  • my.example.com

Understanding how UserWay Widget subscriptions apply to domains and subdomains can help ensure proper coverage across your website.

What Is Covered by a Widget Subscription?

Each UserWay Widget subscription is designed for a single website.

All URL changes that occur after the first slash are included within the same subscription.

Examples covered by the same subscription:

  • example.com

  • example.com/about

  • example.com/contact

  • example.com/products/item-1

These URLs remain covered because only the page path changes.

Do I Need Separate Subscriptions for example.com and www.example.com?

No. UserWay does not consider www.example.com to be a separate subdomain for subscription purposes. A single Widget subscription covers both:

  • example.com

You do not need to purchase or install a separate Widget subscription for the www version of your website.

When Is a Separate Subscription Required?

A separate Widget subscription is required when the website uses a different subdomain or domain.

Examples that require separate subscriptions:

  • login.example.com

  • accounts.example.com

  • shop.example.com

  • portal.example.com

Although these websites may belong to the same organization, each subdomain is considered a separate deployment location.

Summary

A UserWay Widget subscription covers all pages within the same website, including both the root domain (example.com) and the www version (www.example.com). However, other subdomains, such as login.example.com, shop.example.com, or portal.example.com, require their own Widget subscription.
