What Are the UserWay Widget User-Triggered Accessibility Features?

The UserWay Pro Widget offers essential accessibility features that facilitate user interaction for your end-users. With user-triggered enhancements, the widget allows for personalized adjustments, empowering users to tailor their experience for optimal accessibility and user experience while visiting your website, intranet, or web app.

Below are the accessibility features available with our Pro Widget plans:

1. Screen Reader

Our Screen Reader feature provides auditory feedback for on-screen content. It reads aloud text, descriptions, and navigational elements, ensuring that all users can engage with and understand the content on your page.

2. Contrast+

Enhance readability with our Contrast+ Feature, which includes:

  • Invert: Reverses color schemes for high contrast, ideal for low-light environments.

  • Dark: Applies a dark mode to reduce glare and improve readability in dim settings.

  • Light: Uses a lighter color scheme to ensure clear visibility in well-lit conditions.

3. Smart Contrast

Smart Contrast dynamically adjusts the color contrast based on the content and background. This automatic adjustment ensures optimal readability and visual comfort across various lighting conditions and content types based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

4. Highlight Links

Our Highlight Links feature makes navigation easier by visually emphasizing hyperlinks. This enhancement helps users quickly identify clickable elements, improving overall

website usability.

5. Bigger Text

Increase text size with our Bigger Text option to enhance readability for users who need larger fonts. This feature makes on-screen text easier to read, accommodating a range of visual preferences and needs with up to 4 levels of text size.

6. Text Spacing

Customize the spacing between lines of text with our Text Spacing options:

  • Light: Minimal spacing for a compact view.

  • Moderate: Balanced spacing for general readability.

  • Heavy: Expanded spacing for those who need more separation between lines.

7. Pause Animation

The Pause Animation feature allows users to stop all on-screen animations. This is particularly useful for individuals who experience motion sensitivity or find animations distracting. Supported formats:

  • CSS animation

  • Embedded video players; i.e. YouTube, Vimeo

  • Gif animation

8. Hide Images

Hide Images removes visual elements from the page, focusing solely on text content. This feature benefits users who are visually impaired or prefer a simplified, text-focused view.

9. Dyslexia Friendly and Legible Fonts

Our Dyslexia Friendly and Legible Fonts offer specialized font choices designed by UserWay to improve readability for end-users with dyslexia. These fonts feature distinct letter shapes and spacing to reduce confusion and facilitate easier reading.

10. Cursor Feature

Enhance cursor usability with these tools:

  • Big Cursor: Enlarges the cursor for better visibility.

  • Reading Mask: Applies a semi-transparent mask around the cursor to aid in reading.

  • Reading Guide: Provides a horizontal guide to help users follow lines of text more easily.

11. Tool Tips

Tool Tips are designed to enhance understanding by providing additional context and explanations, particularly for image elements. When users hover over or focus on an image, Tool Tips displays the alt text description, offering insights into the image's content and purpose. This feature ensures that all users, especially those with visual impairments, can fully comprehend the visual components of your page.

12. Page Structure

The Page Structure feature offers a clear overview of the page's layout, including headings and sections. This helps users navigate and comprehend the organization of content more effectively.

13. Line Height

Adjust the vertical spacing between lines of text with our Line Height options. This feature allows users to choose the spacing that best suits their reading comfort and needs.

14. Text Align

Customize text alignment with options to align text left, center, right, or justify. This feature helps users view and organize text according to their preferences and accessibility requirements.

15. Saturation

The Saturation feature allows users to adjust the intensity of colors on the page. It includes options for low and high saturation to suit different visual preferences. Additionally, the desaturate option reduces colors to grayscale, providing a simplified and more comfortable viewing experience for end-users who may be sensitive to bright colors. *Firefox not supported due to browser limitation

16. Dictionary

The Dictionary feature offers definitions and additional context for words on the page, supporting users in understanding and engaging with content more fully. To define a word, simply select any word on the page or hit Ctrl + M on your keyboard for quick access to its meaning.
