You will be notified via email once your PDF remediation order is ready!

The order will include the following:

  1. Your remediated PDF files (are accessible as required by the ADA based on the PDF/UA (Universal Accessibility standards).

  2. A Statement of Compliance for each remediated PDF file. These statements do not need to be shared with the public but should be saved for your records.

Follow the guide below on replacing links on your website to the old/inaccessible PDF files with the remediated PDFs.

Please select one of the following two options to replace the old/inaccessible PDF files with the remediated PDFs:

  1. Re-embedding PDFs.

    1. Replace the old PDFs on your server/hosting/S3 with the newly-remediated PDFs while adding a unique identifier that will help UserWay's AI-Powered Accessibility Widget and automated accessibility scanners & checkers identify the files as accessible. Re-Embedding the PDFs + Hash can be achieved by following these steps:

      1. Retrieve the remediated PDF files HERE.

      2. Upload the newly-remediated PDFs to your servers/hosting/CMS/S3 and ensure the new files completely overwrite the old ones.

      3. Locate the link to the original PDFs in your system/source code/CMS.

      4. Add the hash provided in the attached spreadsheet to the PDF link, e.g.

        <a href="document.pdf" data-uw-pdf-rem="d5c8b3da398a">document.pdf</a>
      5. Replace the hash above in green with the one from column E in the spreadsheet provided as part of the deliverable.

  2. UserWay Hosted PDFs. (*No additional steps are necessary when running UserWay's AI-Powered Pro Accessibility Widget on your website).

    1. UserWay will host the remediated PDFs on its secure, high-availability, low-latency servers. In this case, only the link to the file can be replaced, without having to re-upload the files to your servers. *UserWay Hosted PDFs can be achieved by following these steps:

      1. Locate the link to the original PDFs in your system/source code/CMS.

      2. Replace the original anchor link with the one provided in column F of the spreadsheet provided to you by UserWay.

      3. Now instead of your links pointing to the original server, e.g.

        <a href="https://example.org/document.pdf">document.pdf</a>

The PDF will point to UserWay's servers:

        <a href="https://cdn.userway.org/pdf/document.pdf">document.pdf</a>
